More Pottery Sheep

I have been working away at my pottery sheep this past week. As you can see - the flock is slowly growing. If you click on the image - it will enlarge it.

I now have 3 small sheep done - and 2 larger sheep. The larger sheep, will be available with - or without your flock name added. As you can see in the picture below, I can shear the wool on the side of the sheep - and add a name. This one is for my good friend Cate (but if you know her, don't tell her - it's a surprise).

The first 3 small sheep have now been bisque fired, and are ready to be glazed. I will have to make a trip to Waterloo, Ontario next weekend to pick up some glazes. I will probably paint them up next week, and then get everything ready for a glaze firing. This is a time consuming process, as we never fire the kiln until it is full - with the cost of energy these days - just can't afford it.

I have 2 more of the larger sheep to complete for pre-existing orders this next week. I also have 6 small sheep to complete for other local orders.

This next few weeks, I will work on making several more of the small sheep - and then I will start taking orders for specific colours. I will have to work out the details for these orders.
I may just make several sheep - and then post them and sell as is, or take specific orders, and
you have to wait while it's being completed. Many little details to work out.

Also - Nancy Krohn (Bluff Country Shetlands), has graciously offered to post a link on her page, to my sales page - thank you Nancy.

Well - I'd better get back to it.

I wonder if you could put an ad out on the Shetland Yahoo list during SSS&T weekend? I have a feeling you could fill a kiln pretty fast with that kind of exposure!

I like the head/body proportion on the small sheep better. The head of the big sheep looks, well, BIG!

I've been thinking of doing that - after I get several done.
I have been working on the big guys since this picture was taken. I've got the heads down smaller - but it is hard to get them to proportion properly to maintain balance.
It's all a matter of experimentation at this point.

I did and I WILL! Just let me know when you'd like it added and what you'd like it to say. I checked your website and don't see a sale page for the critters ~ are you going to make a separate page for them or just do them through your blog? I hope you have ME on that waiting list! I definitely want to buy some of your critters!

Tammy,
Count me in! I'd love to put a link to your sales page on my blog as well!
These are so cute! (And put me on your sales list as well!)

Keep 'em coming!

Hi Nancy - and Kathy - I'm just getting ready to glaze the first few that are done. Once they are fired and I see the results, I'll get going on production. In the meantime, I have fallen and hurt my arm - so I'm temporarily unable to do much pottery without a great deal of pain. I will keep you updated though. And I am starting my list.

Oh, Tammy! I hope your arm isn't seriously hurt!

I can't wait to see pictures of your first finished pieces...

Hi Nancy - I'm fine - just aggravated an old injury - need to rest the arm for a week or so.
I might start underglazing tonight on a few of the sheep.

I'd better get a sales page started soon as well.

Hiya, Tammy...

Just checking to see how you are doing - those re-injuries can be devilish to settle down. I've stopped back every so often to see what you're up to...
Just take care of yourself! (Yeah, right...like I know how we Shetland shepherds are. Especially when it's time for lambing, shearing, etc.) :)

Hey Guys - I'm doing great.
I have a few more sheep done. I've started the glazing process as well.
I should have some ready to go in the next 3-4 weeks.
And yes - the arm hurts. I am seeing my chiropractor weekly.
But we shetland shepherds are tough!
